What Determines the Price of Illuminated Advertising? A Simple Guide for Everyone
In short: the price is influenced by size, materials, technology, and labor.
Below we explain this clearly and directly – whether you’re considering 2D/3D letters, a lightbox, or an LED neon.
  1. Size of the sign
The larger the sign, the more material, time, and electronics it requires. Sometimes additional frames or reinforcements are needed.
Here’s a quick guide to visibility depending on viewing distance for a simple, bold letter:
    • up to 5 m – narrow street, old town – comfort: 20–30 cm, wow: 30–40 cm
    • 5–15 m – typical storefront or façade – comfort: 30–45 cm, wow: 45–60 cm
    • 15–50 m – building front along a street – comfort: 50–80 cm, wow: 80–120 cm
    • 50+ m – roadside display on a highway – from 80 cm upwards
You don’t need to choose the size yourself. Just send us a photo of the installation site — we’ll recommend the right dimensions and prepare a free visualization.

  2. Type of sign and production technology
Non-illuminated letters are cheaper to produce and maintain than illuminated ones, because they don’t require electronics. If the location is well lit, illumination may not be necessary.
2D letters are simpler and faster to make than 3D letters, so they usually cost less.
First, we define the type of sign. If you already know you want 3D letters, an LED neon, or a lightbox — great. Next, we select the optimal type of that product, which determines the production technology, ensuring it works best in your conditions without unnecessary costs. If you’re unsure which type to choose — that’s great too. Contact our consultants — based on a short interview, they will recommend the most suitable solution.
    Expect questions such as:
    • What should the sign look like and what should it include?
    • Indoor or outdoor installation?
    • From what distance should it be readable?

  3. LED Illumination
LED is the standard today — efficient and durable. Higher-quality modules and power supplies mean fewer breakdowns, lower energy use, and longer lifespan. Price is also influenced by factors such as:
    • light source: LED modules, LED strips, LED bulbs
    • lighting type: white, color, RGB (e.g., remote-controlled)
    • add-ons: dusk sensor, timer, dimmer, music controller, remote, or app-based control
Simple rule: more effects = more components and more work.

  4. Graphic design
If a logo needs to be created “from scratch,” refined in detail, cut into unusual shapes or very small elements — design time increases, and with it the cost. Well-prepared files shorten the process.

  5. Finishing materials and details
Backing boards, frames, glowing outlines, painting, lacquering, wrapping, non-standard joints — every detail enhances aesthetics and durability, but also adds man-hours and material use.

  6. Labor intensity and precision
Some custom projects require prototyping, non-standard solutions, or complex electronics. Developing such elements adds another stage — which means more man-hours. For us as a workshop, this is standard practice, unlike mass production.

  7. Installation conditions and durability
Outdoor exposure means sun (UV), rain, frost, and wind. Electronics with higher IP ratings and durable materials are required. This increases the budget, but guarantees years of peace of mind.

  8. Logistics and packaging
Large elements must be properly secured. This affects packaging and transport costs. For single orders, it can be a noticeable part of the price.

  9. Lead time
Express mode means reshuffling priorities in production and usually higher costs. If you have time, planning ahead helps optimize the budget.

  10. Quantity
Most of our projects are 1–3 pieces. One-off production is more expensive than serial production, as the economy of scale doesn’t apply. The good news: with higher volumes, unit costs drop — materials and labor are spread across more items, and processes are easier to optimize.
The price of a sign is not just about materials. It’s also about technology — or rather, combining technologies — light, precision, durability, and support at every stage. At BRANDEKOR, we focus on quality and personalization — that’s why we’re a workshop, not a factory.
